An error occurred while saving the comment So are you suggesting interpreting release information from folder and file paths?
I guess you could come up with heuristics for this, but I'd be a bit wary about it.
It shouldn't really take _that_ long to just read these files, although I agree writing data can be slow. I'm not showing much empathy here, so maybe I misunderstand just how high a speed you require!

An error occurred while saving the comment I think there are two cases of this:
- Handle tracks that are single tracks (*not* single releases) - these may or may not have album tags
- Handle individual tracks as part of an album, or more generally subsets of albums, better, so they are more likely to match to linked releases (right now the certainty is lower for subsets, especially individual tracks)I think these should be implemented separately, as two separate pieces of work.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ok. In theory that should work for a small number of singles - in the same way you can have one folder of multiple full albums. However, this wouldn't scale to 4000 tracks at the moment.
An error occurred while saving the comment Just want to add a clarification here (for anyone reading)...
When it is said bliss is "album" oriented, what is meant is that it is "release" oriented.
If you have complete single releases, they should work just as well as albums. For example, if you have the A side, B side and other tracks, and they are in their own folder together.
It's more "odd tracks" that are the problem, and what is meant by "Singles" in the title. But I can understand the motivation.
An error occurred while saving the comment Max, maybe see http://ideas.blisshq.com/forums/21939-bliss/suggestions/3758349-add-logic-to-conditionally-use-tags-in-filename also?
Do you have tags that dictate whether a given release is a single, compilation or album? There's such as thing as a COMPILATION tag but no well agreed "single" tag or similar. I ask because it may not always be possible to look the data up - it may be missing for more exotic releases.
An error occurred while saving the comment Yes, I suppose there's a few ways of cutting this particular cake. Different libraries with different rules is one. Specifying certain directories are ignored for the file org is another.
I kinda like your original idea though. Seems quite powerful.

An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks @Christopher . Those are some good heuristics to add to the list.

An error occurred while saving the comment Ok - but just to confirm: any slowness on those sites shouldn't affect bliss, because although we source the same data, it's served from our own database and servers.
An error occurred while saving the comment Another alternative is to do this at the linked releases level - i.e. only link releases from MusicBrainz, Discogs etc.
An error occurred while saving the comment Why, is one database providing data you are not happy with?

An error occurred while saving the comment Love this idea. I think there are some rules that can't be fixed by bliss - this is one of them, because upsampling in most cases would probably not be desirable.

An error occurred while saving the comment This should only happen when one of the following conditions is true:
- The files are all in the same folder.
- The ALBUM ARTIST or ARTIST fields vary such that there's no one distinct artist present in at least 70% of the tracks. So try reviewing the current fields, and see if changing them helps...

An error occurred while saving the comment The word "album" is used a lot in music library management. However, in reality, in most cases, "album" means "release" - https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2013/08/06/album-name-think-release-name/
A single should basically be organised like an album. The ALBUM NAME tag should be filled with the name of the lead track (in double A sides this might be two tracks). Here're a couple of examples from MusicBrainz:
https://musicbrainz.org/release/b5109c8b-9808-4e28-8e03-36d100b5d86e
https://musicbrainz.org/release/b6cc6503-2f64-4dd2-91e3-a27b9ab526feIn theory, then, singles should be able to be identified, _however_ because of the lower number of tracks in the release, achieving a satisfactory confidence in the software might be more difficult.
In terms of actually marking a release or group of tracks as a single, this is up to you to define a field name - there are no commonly used field names for this purpose (that I know of). In which software do you want to see the releases separated by release "type"?

An error occurred while saving the comment The album artist _and_ the album name is a _sort_ of primary key.
I think this might happen if the files are in the same folder. Is that the case for you?

An error occurred while saving the comment When you say "move a genre or sub genre of music in and out" you mean "in and out" of a top-level music folder, right?
Sounds like one for http://ideas.blisshq.com/forums/21939-bliss/suggestions/36753685-individual-rulesets-for-different-genres

An error occurred while saving the comment Nice idea in principle.
Can this be done without the data from the rip? i.e. do the audio files have all the data required to query the database? For example, the CD drive table requires data about your CD drive - that won't be in the music files.
I wonder if there's a different solution in just audio analysis.

An error occurred while saving the comment Ok - if the folder names change then that means bliss won't know the new location of the music. In that case you could use "Rescan for new and updated music files".
An error occurred while saving the comment Please send us a debug archive (https://www.blisshq.com/support/faq/general/how-create-debug-archive.html) to support@blisshq.com so we can see the source of the "confusion".
There is the remove album and rescan folders option on each album page - does that work?

An error occurred while saving the comment This can be done with the file organisation rule - does https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2012/01/13/organising-multi-disc-album-files/ explain it?

An error occurred while saving the comment Agree...
An error occurred while saving the comment This would be fixed by ruleset selectors - https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2017/08/01/ruleset-selecta/ the selector being "artist starts-with A" or something...
The only workaround for this right now is to use bliss-ignorefolders: https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2011/08/16/new-release-20110809/ (this is even easier in the case where files are organised by starting letter, but this is less likely to be the case).

An error occurred while saving the comment True - we can always streamline as much as possible.
An error occurred while saving the comment Thanks for explaining, that makes it clearer. Definitely something that cannot be automated I think...
An error occurred while saving the comment Interesting idea.
To what extent should an album be considered duplicate?
For example, let's say you had an original release, and an "anniversary edition" release with three extra tracks. What should be the behaviour?

An error occurred while saving the comment Interesting idea. You might find it easier, though, if you synced the album with the original release instead.
Could you give an example of the album? Are you talking about boxsets where albums are re-released together?

An error occurred while saving the comment So this is where the canonical name for an artist is prefixed by "The", but you don't want it because it makes searching using your music player harder?
Note the canonical name for Ramones _is_ actually "Ramones", without the "The". In this case you could use the tag accuracy rules to get the current artist name without the "The".
Note that fields like ARTISTSORT can be used to make sure any artist starting with the definite article appears in lists as if "The" wasn't there, e.g. The Beatles would appear under "B".

An error occurred while saving the comment Just in case it's helpful, you can do something like https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2017/10/25/setting-various-artists-name/ to perform a find-and-replace type functionality.
An error occurred while saving the comment Ok - but this only has an indirect effect on the folder name. The assigned artist name is what is used to complete a path by the file organisation rule. I'll change the title slightly (let me know if I'm missing something).

An error occurred while saving the comment Does it appear on the Untagged page?
If bliss finds files without album or artist tags it adds them to the Untagged page.
If all the files for one album are in one folder, it stands a chance of identifying the album using its fingerprint. If that's the case you'll see the suggested titles in the Untagged page.
If it's a lot of "odd" tracks and incomplete albums there's less chance of matching the album.
Let me know what you're seeing currently...

An error occurred while saving the comment I think Mike wanted to keep the album name, but change the track artist name. Some music players can handle different track artists per track, some can't.
Could you add an idea for this?
An error occurred while saving the comment You can already add tags to the "ARTIST" tag using the Tags page - also if these are official releases they should be flagged as incorrect information.
Given that, I don't understand exactly what you need - are you saying you want the groups of tracks within an album to be separated by artist?
Could you use the ARTISTSORT field for this: https://ideas.blisshq.com/forums/21939-bliss/suggestions/2249593-for-file-organisation-create-a-new-album-artist-v ?
