The album artist _and_ the album name is a _sort_ of primary key.

I think this might happen if the files are in the same folder. Is that the case for you?

When you say "move a genre or sub genre of music in and out" you mean "in and out" of a top-level music folder, right?

    Sounds like one for http://ideas.blisshq.com/forums/21939-bliss/suggestions/36753685-individual-rulesets-for-different-genres

    Also see https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2017/08/01/ruleset-selecta/

    Nice idea in principle.

Can this be done without the data from the rip? i.e. do the audio files have all the data required to query the database? For example, the CD drive table requires data about your CD drive - that won't be in the music files.

I wonder if there's a different solution in just audio analysis.

Ok - if the folder names change then that means bliss won't know the new location of the music. In that case you could use "Rescan for new and updated music files".

Please send us a debug archive (https://www.blisshq.com/support/faq/general/how-create-debug-archive.html) to support@blisshq.com so we can see the source of the "confusion".

There is the remove album and rescan folders option on each album page - does that work?

This can be done with the file organisation rule - does https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2012/01/13/organising-multi-disc-album-files/ explain it?

This would be fixed by ruleset selectors - https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2017/08/01/ruleset-selecta/ the selector being "artist starts-with A" or something...

The only workaround for this right now is to use bliss-ignorefolders: https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2011/08/16/new-release-20110809/ (this is even easier in the case where files are organised by starting letter, but this is less likely to be the case).

    Interesting idea.

To what extent should an album be considered duplicate?

For example, let's say you had an original release, and an "anniversary edition" release with three extra tracks. What should be the behaviour?

Interesting idea. You might find it easier, though, if you synced the album with the original release instead.

Could you give an example of the album? Are you talking about boxsets where albums are re-released together?

So this is where the canonical name for an artist is prefixed by "The", but you don't want it because it makes searching using your music player harder?

Note the canonical name for Ramones _is_ actually "Ramones", without the "The". In this case you could use the tag accuracy rules to get the current artist name without the "The".

Note that fields like ARTISTSORT can be used to make sure any artist starting with the definite article appears in lists as if "The" wasn't there, e.g. The Beatles would appear under "B".

Just in case it's helpful, you can do something like https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2017/10/25/setting-various-artists-name/ to perform a find-and-replace type functionality.

Ok - but this only has an indirect effect on the folder name. The assigned artist name is what is used to complete a path by the file organisation rule. I'll change the title slightly (let me know if I'm missing something).

Does it appear on the Untagged page?

If bliss finds files without album or artist tags it adds them to the Untagged page.

If all the files for one album are in one folder, it stands a chance of identifying the album using its fingerprint. If that's the case you'll see the suggested titles in the Untagged page.

If it's a lot of "odd" tracks and incomplete albums there's less chance of matching the album.

Let me know what you're seeing currently...

I think Mike wanted to keep the album name, but change the track artist name. Some music players can handle different track artists per track, some can't.

Could you add an idea for this?

An error occurred while saving the comment
AdminDan Gravell (Founder and programmer, bliss) commented  ·

You can already add tags to the "ARTIST" tag using the Tags page - also if these are official releases they should be flagged as incorrect information.

Given that, I don't understand exactly what you need - are you saying you want the groups of tracks within an album to be separated by artist?

Obviously, there would need to be some way to access the playlist. Does GPM make it available? Can it be exported? It would be interesting to see what format it is in.

Thanks - this would require support to be added to the underlying tagging library (Jaudiotagger). I would've thought the container format (Ogg) wouldn't be that much different between Vorbis (which we support) and Opus, but it looks like not everything works out just yet.

I can totally understand why you'd want to retain this.

Currently bliss only reads/writes the fields inside the music files. Are you sure this data is stored inside the music files? It sounds like something that would be in an iTunes database.

Ah, yes, I think the problem here is that because you've fixed the album, the "return to album list" link forgets that you were originally on non-compliant albums.

I think the back button *should* work for now...

Dave - there is a way to have custom min/max settings to narrow it, e.g. to 450-550. See https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2018/01/09/custom-album-art-sizes/ . Also note the caveats.

I merged an idea from Bernard Danino:

The settings available in the interface do not in the end strive for the biggest cover art size available, if you wish to be it so.
Instead and although you set no maximum size it will usually settle for some averagely low cover art.

AdminDan Gravell (Founder and programmer, bliss) commented  ·

Ok, so are you saying the automatic fetcher should still install art that is better, but not necessarily compliant?

AdminDan Gravell (Founder and programmer, bliss) commented  ·

Thanks for this. It sounds like your main idea is a way to have graduated sizing requirements. I wonder if this other idea could be adapted to fix the situation: http://ideas.blisshq.com/forums/21939-bliss/suggestions/2025863-provide-a-preferred-size-option-for-selecting-al

    You could say:

    ideal: 500x500+
    ok: 300x300+

Everything else is disallowed. What do you think?

Regarding genres, please get in touch via email and attach a debug archive (see http://www.blisshq.com/support/reporting-problems.html ).

AdminDan Gravell (Founder and programmer, bliss) commented  ·

Yeah this makes sense. Consider the use case that you really want art for all music but you want it to be as high quality as possible. So you set the minimum size low or leave it unset to make sure as much art as possible is found, and you run the chance of smaller art being chosen when larger art is available.

We don't have an Android version, no. Typically, for use with a portable player you could install bliss on a different Windows, Mac or Linux based computer (if you have one) and fix your library from there.
