Well - would you sort physical albums or CDs in a shelf by album name, *ever*...?
I usually go by album artist, then sort within that from oldest to newest.

Oh - is "Rescan" if I just click on the button instead of the dropdown? Never did that ;)
I only ever do "Rescan for new and updated files" and happened to hit "Clear and rescan" a few times.

The second click is the selection in a dropdown, i.e. just a couple of pixels difference in picking between an option that "looks for new stuff" vs. "forget everything I did previously". Yes, I did pick the wrong one a couple of times.
"Rescan" is what I click every time I dropped new files into the root of my music folder for Bliss to pick them up, which it does not do (consistently) automatically.

I understand this may be necessary if tag relevant things change between versions, or database definitions change. Maybe updates could do this only if technically necessary...?

Hi Dan,
totally valid comment. Maybe the change should be shown where it will happen, i.e. details about the proposed album level change at the album section, and details about title related changes next to the actual title?Frank Köhntopp

Oh - and while you're at it, is TrackTotal and DiscTotal supported as well? If they're missing it messes up sorting on my car radio...

I would like to add to the proposal - I often have a great image in the files already, with no better one available in search, but non-compliance is based on there being more than one cover. It would be great if I could delete the wrong ones.

I would like to extend this to the Discogs ID, preferrably into one of the custom fields.
Please use release_id, so on "clear and rescan" the linked release could be identified easily.
If you store the master_id in addition it's easy to search all releases in cases of missing metadata or covers.
