$tmpdir setting
Hello I have quite small /tmp (128MB) running tmpfs on linux (ramdisk) and sometimes (quite often actually) it happens that bliss creates dump file (like bliss.heapdump.36835572621.1336862581339.hprof) which consumes all space in my /tmp which have impact on overall system functionality.
My request/question - is there way how to set $tmpdir for bliss? or even better is it possible to disable heap dumps, or direct those to specified folder?

[Artist consolidation] Strip whitespace from artist names
Part of the artist consolidation rule should be to trim whitespace (tabs, spaces etc) from the start and end of the artist name.
1 voteThis has been implemented by the trim whitespace rule: https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2015/09/01/new-release-20150825-trim-rules/

Tag editor - filter by album and/or artist name
Currently the tag editor displays all albums (a page or two at a time) that I have in my collection. It would be great to be able to filter by album name and/or artist name.
That being said...it's still pretty convenient.

Automatically Complete Album Artist
Allow automatic population of the "Album Artist" field when the "Artist" field for an album is consistent throughout all tracks. Suggest options for "Album Artist" when the "Album" field is 90% consistent i.e. when some tracks include "Ft Joe Bloggs"

Interpretation of WAV/AIFF in directory structure (artist-album-trackname)
Deduct artist-album-trackname from directory structure for WAV/AIFF, making these formats usable for cover art.
7 votesWAV support has been added into bliss, so this idea is no longer needed: http://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2015/11/17/new-release-20151110-aiff-wav-tagging/

setup.exe should be otherwise named e.g. bliss_setup.exe
WIndows doesn't seem to like files called setup.exe - it's nags might worry some users and put them off. Also makes the file easier to identify once downloaded.
2 votesThis was fixed a long time ago; Windows changed its restrictions on file naming.
It's now "bliss-<version number>.exe".

Automatic year and genre tagging
Currently, when I configure my rules to require year and genre information, bliss finds all albums without that information and where possible offers alternatives.
This should be automated, so it works like the cover art lookup.

Ability to set "Fix track numbers automatically" in the settings
I have discovered I am really really tired of clicking "Set track to 01, Set track to 02, Set track to 03 .... over and over again in the User Interface. Why can't Bliss just do that????

Make it easier to see what has been fixed
The activity page tells me about the compliancy of my collection but I can't see what has been fixed. I can tell some fixes have been used but not sure what on (I wanted to check that I liked what it had fixed). Also, it would give me an idea of how far 1000 fixes would go if I bought them.

Add genre to 'File organisation' rules
I would like to use genre as part of my folder structure. It helps me to remember the general category of an artist when I browse through my music collection.

Standardize Capitalization of Tags (Album, Title, etc)
I (like most of you) am a bit anal about my music collection. I prefer all my tags to follow proper capitalization rules. I've standardized all my album names to match case wise ("A Hard Day's Night", "Beatles for Sale"), but applying these same rules to the track titles is just not feasible to do manually. Some of my track titles have every word capitalized, others have no capitalization. It would be great if there could be an option to allow bliss to correct tag capitalization. It could have an option to follow standard title rules (something like http://grammartips.homestead.com/caps.html),…

allow a picklist when genre is wrong
Reprise is not an allowable genre Allow genre: 'Reprise'
It would be nice if the system gave me the allowed genre's so that I could pick the correct one off a list. As it is, you can't change it at all, and have to use a tagging program.

When viewing albums for an artist the "why?" link doesn't expand
When using the artist view then selecting an artist to see the albums in that artist, when you click "why?" for if it's in compliance or not, it doesn't expand to the bullet list of items like it does if you're sorted by album.
Windows XP, Firefox.

add <trackartist> to the set of tags available for "organize folder"
Like it says on the tin...
Many compilations have an overall album artist (eg. "various Artists") but a separate artist for each track.
It would be absolutely brilliant to allow one format for single-artist discs (eg. <track> - <name>) and another for compilations (eg. <track> - <artist> - <name>), possibly by using the ID3 compilation flag.

Solaris 11 Express support
My NAS box runs Solaris 11 Express for the ZFS file system and I'd love to be able to run Bliss as a service on the box itself, but when I try it says "SunOS not supported". Any chance of getting support? I'm happy to help debug if required.

I’ve just changed it so platforms without a file notification hook (such as Solaris right now) will still work, but only manually. You will have to press the rescan button for bliss to assess changes to your music files.

Filter albums by compliance type e.g. all albums without cover art
Imagine I have the file org and cover art rules enabled and my music library has been scanned. I want to simply fill in all missing art first, but all albums with non-compliant file paths will also be listed under the 'uncompliant' filter.
I'd like a more specialised filter that shows [un]compliant albums for each rule. This way, I would be able to see all albums that have uncompliant genres, or compliant cover art.

A version of Bliss that will run on a Synology Diskstation NAS.
I have Squeezebox Server running on my Synology NAS, and it would be fantastic if Bliss would as well, so I wouldn't have to use my PC laptop to maintain the artwork files. Putting Bliss on the NAS would create a true "set and forget" situation.
13 votesBuild 20111221 ( http://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2012/01/03/new-release-20111221-clear-rescan/index.html ) contains a change to the Linux script to allow choice of java by altering JAVA_HOME.
JAVA_EXEC=java
if [ -e “${JAVA_HOME}” ]
then
JAVA_EXEC=${JAVA_HOME}/bin/java
fiexec ${JAVA_EXEC} ${VMARGS} […]
So, override JAVA_HOME before you call the script if you want to control the java exe, e.g.
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/; ./bliss.sh
I’m aware that this manual installation is not the nicest-possible solution, however without solid evidence that a fully packaged Diskstation add-on would be worth my time I am not working on that for now. Please open a new idea for a full packaged version if that’s what you want.

Remember Setting for Number of Albums per Page
Great that you can select up to 96 albums per page, but Bliss "forgets" the setting and resets to 12 per page so you have to keep changing back to 96...

Handle Deleted Albums More Elegantly
Bliss seems to remember that an album existed after it has been deleted - and therefore keep looking to determine whether it is compliant or not, even though there is no album to check.
It would be better if Bliss flagged that an album appeared to have vanished (you might want to know if this was by mistake!) but then gave you the option to acknowledge the change so that Bliss "forgets" the album and no longer looks for it.
Probably not spotted before because you don't often delete albums/music - but this happened during some testing of VortexBox/Bliss when…
