bliss should consume less memory
Currently for me, with a library of about 400 albums, bliss consumes around 120MB (Linux). It is similar in Windows. bliss should consume less memory, because larger libraries may struggle to fit in.
2 votesThis work is now completed. An aim was to support 5000 albums, bliss should now comfortably support that many.

Add the ability to ignore albums where correct artwork can not be found
When going through the list of albums where bliss can not determine which artwork to add to them, you ca not always find the correct artwork.
There should be away of marking these to ignore, so that the list only contains those which have not been actioned.
At a later date, I might then like to go back to them or have bliss re-search for artwork.
This is needed as currently, I have a huge list full of albums where only incorrect artwork is available.3 votesThis feature is now available for download.

clear web interface when settings change
When settings are change, clear the 'activity' page so that the new search starts afresh - for example if I change the music folder from /storage/music/mp3 to /storage/music/flac then it would be good for activity to start afresh with no other info

To add an 'ignore directorory' feature
Add a feature which will ignore certain folders in a scan, for example you could choose to ignore 'various artists' as you know that it would be hard to find accurate artwork for these
15 votesThis feature is now released: http://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2011/08/16/new-release-20110809/index.html
Initially this will work using files called .bliss-ignorefiles and .bliss-ignorefolders. The former ignores all music files in the directory it is stored in. The latter ignores all child folders in the directory it is stored in. In the various artists case, store .bliss-ignorefolders inside Various/ or whatever and it should do the trick.
Should be released on the 16th August (with beta a week before).
As an aside, I really like Derek’s idea and I think it will work well with the ‘multiple library’ approach. Not only could you define rules for multiple libraries, but also for nested libraries where the nested library may inherit rules from the parent apart from some you’d rather not.

Showing size of artwork choices when >1 to choose from
When you go into the screen to choose artwork it would be good to see the size of the chosen artwork in there - people may want to choose based on the size rather then clicking into the actual image

Duplicate removal has now been completed: https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2018/05/22/release-20180516-duplicate-removal/ and so this idea has been marked as so.
New ideas developing the idea further should be posted separately.
The earlier first iteration for duplicate detection was released here: https://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2018/04/27/release-20180424/ .

Allow a manual retry for failed cover art installs
Sometimes the reasons for a failed download can be transient (e.g. temporary problem with a remote server). Add a 'retry' option to failed installs to tell bliss to try downloading again.
1 voteThis has actually been completed with the new ‘rescan’ feature for albums. Rescan re-assesses and retries any fixes.

Allow the user to specify exactly what art they want for an album
When you click on 'change' in the installed activity view, there is only an option to ask bliss to lookup the art and reapply it. It would be good if there was another option to provide the URL of the art the user definitely wants to use. This is then embedded/saved as the user has requested.
3 votesThis is now complete – see http://bit.ly/bZrPrC – you may choose from a set of alternatives bliss has found, you may provide your own URL to an image, or you may ask bliss to reset and install whatever art it thinks is correct.

Min/max art size should work on existing art
Currently this only governs new art downloaded.
It should apply to existing art too. If the existing art falls outside the constraints then if a good result can be obtained it will be resized automatically. If not, and a definite match within the size constraints can be found on the Web, it should be downloaded and installed. If there is not a definite match, suggest it to the user.
2 votesThis feature is now live.
If existing art is too large for the rule you define, bliss resizes the art automatically.
If it is too small, bliss will search online for art that is the correct size.

Rule for removing embedded art
Currently there is just a checkbox - this means embed art into a music file.
It would be more powerful to supply the following options:
Ignore - ignore embedded art
Embed - always embed art in the file
Don't embed - never embed, and remove any existing embedded art3 votesThis is now implemented. The embed art checkbox becomes a drop down list, with the options as stated above.
-
Add a dialog to browse to music directory
Currently you have to type it in, which can be a pain. The dialog should show all the directories on the computer on which bliss is running.

Only save a separate album art file when all the files in a directory are for the same album
If you have tracks with different album titles in the same directory, currently the art for the first track bliss encounters will be saved as an album art file.
I think it just shouldn't save a separate file in these circumstances (it should still embed though, if the user has asked to embed).
2 votesbliss will only save a separate file for the album if all the tracks in a given directory come from the same album. Embedded images are not affected.

When an MP3 is only ID3v1 (and album art can't be embedded), provide a shortcut to convert to ID3v2
MP3s with ID3v1 tags cannot have album art embedded. Currently bliss just reports this as a failure. Add a response to the failure activity to upgrade the tag, and insert the art.
2 votesThis is now completed. When you get presented the error message about ID3v1, you get an option to add an ID3v2 tag and reinstall the artwork, embedding it in the latter tag.

The activity screen should be paginated
There's too much information on one screen right now, it can take a long time to scroll through all the installed album art. It also takes a long time to load with a large library.
The screen should be paginated and maybe by default organised by artist / album name. I should be able to go to the next and previous pages. I should be able to jump to another page, the chooser for the page will show which artists are on each page.
