  1. More Post-Scan Information

After a scan has completed, it would be interesting to see more information regarding the results. Examples of such information might include:

    -Ratio of complient/non-complient files
-Why files are non-complient. Eg: Genre/case format/tags/cover art etc
-How this scan compares to your last scan

There could be many more, but these are just some off the top of my head. Pie-charts could be a good way of showing the first 2, a comparitive bar might work well for the third. This information could be useful if, for example, most of your fixes are being used on song title format, you might…

  2. BTR - Bum track removal

I am of the generation of album purchasers, and more often than not it contains a track that should be deleted from the album, but I just can't do that. A good example of this is by The Police, I like every single track the have made, except MOTHER. I came up with the idea a very long time ago. BTR - Bum Track Removal - now it is possible with digital versions, just create a genre BTR and mark that track with it, when used with Music IP you can set a genre NEVER to play - select BTR…

  4. Ability to enter Freedb ID directly. Instead of bliss having to search for the artist/album

I have a few discs that Bliss cant find, but i find them quite easy on MusicBrainz, there is also a FreeDB ID wich could be copied and pasted into Bliss.

  5. Tag editor: Add the ability to select directories for batch operations

Ex: you want to take a multi-disc set that is not marked as a compilation and mark it as a compilation. Or you want to take a set of directories by the same composer and add the "Composer" tag.

Being able to select whole directories instead of individual files and then to apply the same operation to all the audio files in those directories would make operations like these easy to do.

  6. Switchable alphabetical sort

Currently bliss display album covers sorted by artist or album name etc.
The fact that names are sorted result in thumbnails constantly appearing before the "current" mouse position thus shifting position of album you're working on.
If albums thumbnails were displayed in the same order that they are scanned it would allow me to be more productive by not invalidating the working screen area.

  7. List recently added albums first

Sometimes album art is added and the album is compliant, but it was a slightly different cover to the one you wanted e.g. special edition.

An option to list recently added albums first, would be excellent so you can easily see them as they are added, and select alternative album art.

  8. Guess Album artist when there are contributing artists

It is very common these days for an album by a single artist to have contributing artists on some track. This can make a mess, as you end up with twenty variations on "Kanye West" in your albums list. It's not hard to think of some simple heuristics that would often work, although Bliss could not always figure this out correctly.

  9. Replay Gain / volume levelling rule

bliss should add a Replay Gain or volume levelling rule so that all music in my music collection can be levelled for volume.

    As discussed: http://www.blisshq.com/music-library-management-blog/2010/11/03/mp3-volume-replay-gain/

  10. Allow different cover art for each CD in a multi-CD set

I have several multi-CD sets in my music library. I store each CD in a separate album directory. Each CD has the same album name, but a different discnumber tag. Some of these multi-CD sets have different cover art for each CD in the set. Example: Yesyears by Yes. It is a 4-CD set, with different covert art for each CD: http://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-media/product-gallery/B000002JNV/ref=cm_ciu_pdp_images_all

I would like bliss to treat each album with the same album name but different discnumber and different album directory, as a separate entity, and allow specification of different cover art for each CD in the set.

  11. Provide a "Preferred Size" Option for Selecting Album Art

I am generally choosing Album Art at 500x500. I can obviously use min/max to reduce the number of options, but it would be an ideal alternative if I could also select "Preferred Size" and have Bliss choose album art which matches or is close - Max/Min size would still be useful to give to give Bliss a certain amount of leeway (or even better, you could choose to accept any art within say, 10% of this size).

  12. Provide an init.d script with install for Linux users

I'm struggling to get Bliss set up as a service in Ubuntu 11.10 that auto starts on boot and can be stopped/started/restarted with the standard Linux "service bliss start" style commands.

I'd really appreciate it if you could include an init.d script with the Linux install, or provide instructions for setting this up on the blisshq website.

  13. Michael Bublé: BaBalu --> Bbalu

Strange but Bliss suggests to convert the title of this album into "Bbalu"...

  14. Ability to define file permissions for Unix systems

When Bliss modifies files on a Unix system it sets default file permissions of 644 using whatever owner and group that Bliss is running as. I would like to be able to define what permissions get applied to files, so I don't have to manually alter permissions if I want other users to be able to modify my music files.

  15. Ability to enter missing track number (or set to 00) for filenames

I have a number of pieces that are the result of recording old cassettes, or sometimes albums, or pieces that I have recorded live, or lectures, or whatever, that simply do not HAVE track numbers.

Bliss complains that they're uncompliant, because they don't HAVE a track number... which is fine. But I have to bring up some external tag editor because BLISS doesn't let me enter a track number. Ideally, a "if track is missing utterly, number them in alpha order in that directory automatically, and don't ask me" function would be best. Or, perhaps, a "Set to 00" button,…

  16. For file organisation, create a new album artist variable to order artist names as Last, First.

Create a new album artist token to order artist names as Last, First. Also order groups as "The Beatles" to "Beatles, The"

  17. Add a 'starts with' filter to the artist overview

The album overview has a 'starts with' filter which enabled you to filter by the start character.

The same option should be available for the artist overview.

  18. Compilation specific file org pattern

The thing is that I have a lot of albums (4000 and more coming in) and the naming scheme for compilations varies somewhat. Some are tagged as a compilation (with the compilation tag), others are tagged with Various Artists in the Album Artist tag.

So I would like bliss to move all albums that are tagged with the compilation tag (see http://ideas.blisshq.com/forums/21939-bliss/suggestions/2290707-auto-tag-compilations ) and has Various Artists as Album Artist into the Various Artists folder on my server (and hence rename the folder- and file-name).

Therefore, I want a specific file org pattern for compilations.

  19. Ability to Enter a Custom Search String for Missing Album Art

For instance, some of my albums have extra info in the album name such as (2009 Remaster). When bliss searches for album art, it includes this extra info in the search and (most of the time) doesn't find the album art. It would be nice if I could edit the search string that is being used (basically just to remove this extra info) so that I could get the proper art. A step further might be to have this happen automatically if no art is found, but that is probably asking too much.

  20. drop "The" from result when using group token

When using group to create a folder structure, is it possible to drop "The" from the result? example, The Beatles would result in B, not T.
